This July, we're inviting our members, friends, family, coworkers, and anyone else who wants to participate to join us for the Core 26.2 Challenge.
The concept is simple.
For 26 days, from July 6th through July 31st, we'll walk one mile per day. Then we'll finish with a final 1.2-mile push to complete the full marathon distance of 26.2 miles.
Why 26.2?
Because one of our own Core members is currently training for the Chicago Marathon this October.
As she prepares for the challenge of running 26.2 miles in a single day, we thought it would be fun for our community to tackle that same distance together, one mile at a time.
Walking for a Cause
The challenge isn't just about steps.
It's also a fundraiser.
All proceeds from the Core 26.2 Challenge will support our member's fundraising efforts for Erica's Lighthouse, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing depression education and suicide prevention curriculum to schools across the United States.
Their mission is to equip young people, families, educators, and communities with the tools and resources needed to better understand mental health and support those who may be struggling.
It's a cause we're proud to support.
Who Can Participate?
Everyone.
You don't need to be a member at Core.
You don't need to live in Madison.
You don't need access to a gym.
You simply need a pair of shoes and a willingness to walk.
Walk your neighborhood.
Walk with your spouse.
Walk with your kids.
Walk with your coworkers during lunch.
Take your dog for a walk.
Wherever you are, you can participate.
The cost to enter is $50, and every participant receives an official Core 26.2 Challenge t-shirt. Additional donations are always welcome for those who would like to further support the fundraiser.
Can't participate but still want a shirt?
Anyone who donates $50 or more can still receive a challenge t-shirt as well.
One Mile Each Day. 26.2 Total.
One of the things we love most about walking is that it reminds us how meaningful small actions can be.
One mile doesn't sound like much.
But one mile every day adds up.
That's true for fitness.
It's true for health.
And it's true for making a difference in our community.
This challenge isn't about being the fastest. It's not about getting the most steps. It's not about setting records.
It's about moving more, supporting a great cause, and proving that sometimes the simplest things are the most powerful.
